The Global Campaign & Emergency Humanitarian Response for South Sudanese in Sudan (Act4SouthSudanese.org) is encouraged by the recent announcement from South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, which issued emergency contact numbers for citizens stranded and affected by the ongoing war in Sudan.
The announcement, which came as the humanitarian situation worsens, provides lifelines for South Sudanese nationals seeking support. According to the announcement, South Sudanese in Sudan can now reach out to the numbers below for emergency assistance and support.

This action follows closely after Act4SouthSudanese formally addressed a letter to the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Monday Semaya Kumba, on April 15, 2025. In the letter, the campaign highlighted the urgent need for the government to intervene as South Sudanese civilians trapped in war-torn Sudan face extreme dangers, including starvation, disease, arbitrary arrest, human trafficking, and exploitation.
“We are pleased to see the Ministry taking concrete steps to support our stranded citizens, including the release of these vital emergency contacts,” said Mr. Justin Nyieer Gordon Mourtat, Global Coordinator for Act4SouthSudanese. “This is an important and necessary step forward — and we continue to stand ready to work with the Ministry and all partners to push for further actions.”
In the letter, the Global Campaign also appealed for:
- + Continued diplomatic efforts to secure the protection and rights of South Sudanese in Sudan;
- + Stronger pressure on warring parties to end targeted abuses;
- + The establishment of safe centres and humanitarian corridors to facilitate evacuation;
- + And creating a cooperation platform uniting government, civil society, and humanitarian actors.
The Global Campaign urges the Ministry to sustain and expand its response, particularly through the establishment of humanitarian corridors and safe spaces for civilians who remain trapped in Sudan’s conflict zones.
As the crisis deepens, this moment calls for unity, proactive diplomacy, and sustained humanitarian support to ensure the safety and dignity of every South Sudanese citizen affected by the war.
